Animal Care Specialist

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and proper care of all companion animals and aquatic life in accordance with Petco standards.
• Complete required animal care tasks, including hourly health checks, wellness documentation, and maintenance logs.
• Maintain professional, clean, and well-presented animal habitats and aquatic areas.
• Deliver knowledgeable and compassionate service to customers, acting as a primary resource for animal care education.
• Support department sales and inventory goals by ensuring merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed correctly.
• Assist with ordering live animals and supplies to support inventory integrity.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with or caring for companion animals and aquatic life.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, care, and maintenance practices.
• Completion of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program (or ability to maintain it).
• Strong customer service skills and an aptitude for selling behaviors.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
