Animal Care Specialist

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and proper care of all companion animals and aquatic life according to Petco standards.
• Complete required animal care tasks, including hourly health checks, wellness documentation, and maintenance logs.
• Maintain clean and professional animal habitats and aquatic areas through routine housekeeping and cleaning.
• Serve as a primary resource for animal care education for both customers and team members.
• Support department sales and inventory goals by ensuring merchandise is stocked, priced, and properly displayed.
• Assist with ordering live animals and supplies to maintain inventory integrity.
• Process register transactions accurately and provide compassionate, solution-focused customer service.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with or caring for companion animals and aquatic life.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, care, and maintenance practices.
• Completion of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program.
• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to educate others effectively.
• Basic math, business, and inventory management skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
