About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee care and welfare for aquatic and other organisms, including freshwater, brackish, and marine species
- Perform general husbandry for collections such as jellies, marine arthropods, crustaceans, and teleost fish
- Maintain complex life support systems and monitor environmental variables like temperature, salinity, and water quality
- Manage quarantine systems and identify needs for veterinary intervention
- Maintain compliance with university Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) guidelines
- Fabricate, select, and build new culture systems and tanks as needed
- Keep accurate, detailed records of animal health, maintenance, and life cycle events
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a relevant field
- At least 1 year of full-time experience in aquatic animal husbandry
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates
- Experience managing quarantine systems
