About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic husbandry, handling, restraint, and health surveillance of laboratory animals in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Observe and report on animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, and behavior.
  • Support research by providing basic technical services such as restraint, dose administration, injections, and blood collections.
  • Maintain inventory of animal supplies and support cage wash equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatments as prescribed by veterinary staff.
  • Train and mentor new hires in animal husbandry and facility support duties.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical activities including pushing/pulling racks, lifting feed/bedding, reaching, stooping, and bending.
  • Must provide proof of measles immunity or receive the measles vaccination prior to hire.
  • Ability to work a non-standard schedule, including a shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and working weekends every other week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Familiarity with animal care and welfare regulations (e.g., USDA, AAALAC, or GLP).
  • Experience with cage wash equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
