Android Engineer, Applied Foundations

Responsibilities

• Build core mobile experiences and reusable Android foundations that power OpenAI's global product ecosystem
• Own complex client-side systems spanning UI, networking, local state, and payment integrations
• Create high-quality, reusable components that allow product teams to ship quickly while maintaining security and reliability
• Work closely with backend, product, and safety partners to shape the architecture of the mobile ecosystem
• Prioritize performance, security, and user experience in all mobile development efforts

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven track record of building high-quality production Android applications
• Fluency in Kotlin or Java
• Familiarity with Android development tools and architecture components
• Strong focus on performance, security, and user experience
