Anatomy & Embryology Course Director

Responsibilities

• Develop teaching materials for medical anatomy and embryology, covering all systems including neuroanatomy.
• Deliver content through lectures, laboratory sessions, online platforms, and other learning activities.
• Collaborate with other UICOM sites on course schedules, materials, exams, and educational planning.
• Participate in workgroups to design innovative teaching methods for curricular content.
• Oversee anatomy lab operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and ethical practices.
• Serve as a course director for integrated medical school pre-clinical courses.
• Coordinate the annual anatomy service of gratitude event and serve on college-wide committees.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or MD/DO (or foreign equivalent).
• Previous experience teaching anatomy and embryology or related courses.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team setting.
• Familiarity with instructional technologies such as Google Suite, Microsoft, Zoom, and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard).
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree specifically in Anatomy or Embryology.
• Experience with administrative responsibilities in an educational or clinical setting.
• Demonstrated relevant educational scholarship.
• Knowledge of or experience with LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) requirements.
• Previous experience serving as a course director.
• Interest in implementing innovative teaching strategies.
