About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify political, technological, economic, and environmental trends, with a specific focus on Russia.
  • Perform strategic trend analysis to describe the future security environment and identify defense implications for the Alliance.
  • Lead and support strategic foresight workshops, brainstorming sessions, and analytical activities.
  • Research prevailing international and NATO-relevant political, social, scientific, and military issues.
  • Develop detailed reports, briefing papers, and policy recommendations based on research findings.
  • Present complex findings orally to senior leadership, working groups, and large audiences of stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with international organizations, NGOs, think tanks, academia, and industry.

Requirements

  • University degree in history, geography, politics, economics, international relations, sociology, future studies, or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in policy/doctrine development, future studies, or strategic analysis.
  • Proven ability to summarize large amounts of written material and conduct high-level research.
  • Exceptional organizational, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (SLP 3333 level).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree (MA/MS) in a relevant field such as Political Science, International Relations, or Policy Analysis.
  • Previous experience working within NATO or a large multi-national/multi-ethnic military headquarters.
  • Experience working with international organizations, Ministries of Defense, or Joint Commands.
  • Knowledge of utilizing Artificial Intelligence in the development of foresight products.
