Analyst, Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, transaction support, and legal risk management for corporate and investment banking business in India
• Support various products including project finance, aviation, real estate, export credit, commodity, and ESG finance
• Manage capital markets transactions, including syndicated loans and bond transactions
• Liaise with clients, external lawyers, and transaction parties
• Draft and negotiate varied contracts, including administrative, vendor, and IT contracts
• Collaborate with international legal and business functions across different regions
• Provide proactive legal consultancy to business units regarding material legal developments and legislative changes
• Support the Head of Legal, India, in managing legal affairs and optimizing legal resources

Requirements

• Indian law qualified lawyer
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience
• Strong knowledge of banking and finance transaction documents, including Loan Market Association (LMA) or APLMA standards
• Deep understanding of the legal framework surrounding finance transactions and regulatory requirements for banking
• Excellent document drafting and technical legal skills
• Broad experience across banking, lending, wholesale/investment banking, and capital markets
• Fluency in English with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines in a pressurized environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a law firm specializing in banking and finance
• Additional professional qualifications, such as Company Secretary
