Responsibilities
- Visually inspect and classify conventional and non-standard ammunition, including shells, grenades, pyrotechnics, and mines
- Use the Munitions History Program (MHP) to input and retrieve data to support mission requirements
- Verify nomenclature, lot numbers, and quantities on turn-in documents against physical markings
- Check safety devices and serviceability of ammunition and recommend disposition for damaged or deteriorated items
- Clean, repack, and seal ammunition containers for storage
- Assist Quality Assurance Specialists (QASAS) with continuity checks, periodic inspections, and receipt inspections
- Classify ammunition as serviceable, condemned for EOD destruction, or demilitarized
- Direct and inspect the work of military details and civilian personnel to ensure proper packing and classification
- Manage the receipt, storage, and issue of ammunition and related components
- Conduct inventories and perform 100% inspections of returned residue to ensure it is explosive-free
- Perform daily PMCS on all government-furnished or leased equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of military or civilian experience in the classification and inspection of ammunition
- Specific knowledge of storage and warehouse functions within an Ammunition Supply Point (ASP)
- Ability to read and understand Technical Manuals, Supply Bulletins, and MIL-STD
- Valid Louisiana class D driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a military operator’s permit for required vehicles and equipment (including forklifts up to 15K)
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor climatic conditions
- Ability to work under pressure, including potential shift work, nights, weekends, and holidays
