About the role

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement long-term equipment strategy for battery cell and pack manufacturing
  • Lead the entire equipment lifecycle from concept and specification to installation and commissioning
  • Plan and lead the layout and installation of new battery manufacturing lines
  • Act as a technical expert for battery manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Manage vendors, negotiate specifications, and ensure on-time delivery
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA)
  • Drive continuous improvement for equipment performance, uptime, and yield
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and environmental compliance
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers

Requirements

  • 13+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering
  • 8+ years focused on battery manufacturing equipment in automotive EV or high-volume industries
  • Proven experience with factory layout planning and scaling manufacturing lines
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering
  • Deep expertise in cell, module, and battery manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of automation, robotics, machine vision, and control systems
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, 3DX, or AutoCAD
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale battery production
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Knowledge of battery cell chemistry and electrochemical principles
  • Previous experience in a startup environment
