About the role
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient enrollment into the Meds2Beds transitions of care discharge medication service
- Conduct prescription insurance investigations and process medication claims through insurance
- Coordinate with patients, nurses, physicians, and pharmacists to manage discharge medications
- Manage costs and payments associated with take-home medications, including copay coordination
- Complete prior authorization forms and perform insurance carrier/managed care reviews
- Fill, dispense, and transport medications from the outpatient pharmacy to patient bedside or discharge areas
- Document clinical notes accurately within the electronic medical record
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree
- Current or eligible Illinois Pharmacy Technician Licensure
- 3 to 5 years of pharmacy technician experience in a retail pharmacy
- Proficiency with computers, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of and ability to perform insurance carrier and managed care reviews
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medication reimbursement processes
- Experience with healthcare/prescription insurance billing, prior authorization, and coding
