About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative supervision of personnel performing high complexity molecular diagnostic testing.
  • Coordinate daily operational lab activities, including employee scheduling and workflow optimization.
  • Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance and compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations.
  • Oversee staff orientation, training, and competency assessments to ensure all personnel are qualified to perform testing.
  • Manage personnel through performance objectives, annual reviews, and professional development support.
  • Collaborate with the management team to implement new policies, select equipment, and improve laboratory operations.
  • Maintain technical expertise to assist with testing and troubleshoot complex technical issues when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related biological science.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory performing high complexity testing.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, sitting, and hand pipetting for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an MB ASCP.
  • Demonstrated management experience of professional and support staff in a CLIA Clinical Lab setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to teach or train junior laboratory personnel in specialized protocols.
