Alcohol and Drug Counselor

Responsibilities

• Conduct Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) assessments and develop individualized intervention plans
• Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and prevention-focused educational programs
• Provide counseling, prevention education, and relapse-prevention support to students
• Collaborate with center departments and community agencies to coordinate student support services
• Maintain TEAP-related data and prepare quarterly reports for the Department of Labor
• Ensure proper specimen collection and documentation following chain-of-custody standards
• Support the Center’s Tobacco Use Prevention Program through training and education

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or related behavioral science
• Certification as an Addiction Counselor issued by the Puerto Rico Board of Certification for Addiction and Alcoholism Professionals (JCPAA)
• Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)
• Valid Puerto Rico Category 4 driver’s license and clean driving record
• Current Health Certificate
• Knowledge of substance-abuse prevention, early intervention, and case management

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with youth, educational programs, or counseling services
