About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and service tests for ERCES, burglar, and fire alarm system installations to ensure compliance with UL and applicable requirements.
  • Perform annual inspections to verify system performance, monitoring device arrangement, circuit continuity, and wiring.
  • Establish new Listings for alarm systems by evaluating equipment compatibility and adherence to standards.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, procedure reports, and correspondence regarding findings and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with customers to schedule appointments, explain inspection results, and resolve compliance issues.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including equipment installation literature, wiring diagrams, and building blueprints.
  • Manage a personal work schedule, including travel arrangements and customer appointments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education in applied science or a related discipline.
  • NICET II certification or higher.
  • Technical knowledge of ERCES, burglar, and fire alarm systems and industry vocabulary.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the Chicagoland, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan areas.
  • Willingness to use a personal vehicle for business travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight years of directly related experience in alarm system auditing or inspection.
  • Working knowledge of testing apparatus and techniques common to the alarm industry.
