AI/Simulation Engineer (Thermal - Electronics Cooling)

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute CFD and thermal simulations for electronics cooling, including airflow, convection, and conjugate heat transfer
• Perform thermal analysis at component, board, enclosure, and sub-system levels for products like circuit breakers, PLCs, and laptops
• Analyze industrial environments, considering high ambient temperatures, dust effects, and derating requirements
• Apply boundary conditions such as power losses, contact resistance, and environmental loads
• Support steady-state and transient thermal analyses, including power cycling and startup conditions
• Post-process simulation results to identify thermal risks, hotspots, and design improvement opportunities
• Correlate simulation results with laboratory measurements and field observations
• Prepare technical documentation regarding assumptions, methods, and results
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design optimization and verification activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Thermal, or Aerospace Engineering
• 4–8 years of industrial experience in CFD and thermal-fluid simulation
• Proficiency in commercial simulation tools such as ANSYS Icepak, ANSYS Fluent, or Siemens FloTHERM
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
• Experience with electronics thermal management (PCBs, ICs, heat sinks, fans, and enclosures)
• Understanding of mesh generation, solver settings, and convergence behavior
• Ability to communicate technical results clearly in written and verbal formats

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with thermal testing, thermocouple placement, and data acquisition
• Interest in automation, scripting, or AI-assisted simulation workflows
• Familiarity with UL/IEC standards and certification requirements
