About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough safety analyses at the airplane level across various engineering disciplines to ensure regulatory compliance and product integrity
- Execute airplane level analyses including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA)
- Participate in system research to identify or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns
- Support the definition and validation of safety, mission success, and airworthiness for aircraft designs and operations
- Develop certification strategies for systems and airplane level safety issues
- Represent the safety engineering team in airplane level design trade studies and functional integration assessments
- Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, and validation activities in compliance with regulatory standards
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
- 1+ years of experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels)
- Required experience levels based on role:
- Associate (Level 2): 2+ years of related work experience
- Mid-Level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience
- Senior (Level 4): 9+ years of related work experience
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience performing system safety analysis or studies
- Experience with the commercial airplanes certification process
- Proficiency with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), and Fault-tree Analysis (FTA)
- Experience developing or applying aviation-related system safety analysis methods and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
- Pilot license or pilot experience
- Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering problem solving
