About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee system research and analysis to identify flight anomalies, risks, and safety concerns.
  • Execute airplane-level safety analyses using an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach.
  • Evaluate operational needs to define system performance requirements and ensure interface compatibility.
  • Lead the identification of systemic root causes for safety and mission assurance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to validate and integrate airworthiness requirements into designs and procedures.
  • Lead the documentation of complex safety analyses, hazard mitigations, and verification activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Present hazard mitigations, risk controls, and safety approaches to customers and regulatory authorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in airplane systems design, analysis, or systems integration (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, or fuels).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to take ownership of work activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience performing systems safety analysis (e.g., Risk Assessments, FHA, FTA).
  • 5+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification and safety requirements.
  • Experience working with FAR Part 25.1309 and industry practices such as ARP 4761 & 4754.
  • Aviation certifications such as a Dispatch license, Pilot's license, or Instrument rating.
  • Proven experience solving complex, ambiguous engineering problems in an aerospace environment.
