About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee system research and analysis to identify flight anomalies, risks, and safety concerns.
- Execute airplane-level safety analyses using an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach.
- Evaluate operational needs to define system performance requirements and ensure interface compatibility.
- Lead the identification of systemic root causes for safety and mission assurance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to validate and integrate airworthiness requirements into designs and procedures.
- Lead the documentation of complex safety analyses, hazard mitigations, and verification activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Present hazard mitigations, risk controls, and safety approaches to customers and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- 1+ years of experience in airplane systems design, analysis, or systems integration (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, or fuels).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to take ownership of work activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience performing systems safety analysis (e.g., Risk Assessments, FHA, FTA).
- 5+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification and safety requirements.
- Experience working with FAR Part 25.1309 and industry practices such as ARP 4761 & 4754.
- Aviation certifications such as a Dispatch license, Pilot's license, or Instrument rating.
- Proven experience solving complex, ambiguous engineering problems in an aerospace environment.
