Responsibilities

  • Lead the supersonic plane build, turning designs into real hardware in collaboration with the Director of Manufacturing
  • Stand up the airframe manufacturing function from scratch, including facilities, workflows, and tooling
  • Own day-to-day operations of in-house airframe manufacturing with a focus on composite structures
  • Translate engineering designs and requirements into executable manufacturing plans
  • Lead, schedule, and develop composite technicians and fabricators with a strong shop floor presence
  • Supervise layup, bonding, curing, trimming, assembly, and rework activities
  • Establish work instructions, build sequences, and process documentation
  • Ensure safe operation of composite manufacturing equipment including autoclaves and ovens

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in high-mix, low-volume composite manufacturing or airframe fabrication
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of composite materials (prepreg layup, wet layup, bonding, curing, trimming)
  • Strong knowledge of metallic materials and composite-to-metal interfaces
  • Experience building or scaling manufacturing operations or labs in a development environment
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor technicians
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings, ply books, and CAD models
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and inspection practices
