About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and integration of interior components including panels, seating, cargo restraints, and lighting
- Ensure designs meet ergonomic, human-factors, and aesthetic standards
- Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize components for assembly and durability
- Develop detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications using GD&T
- Partner with certification teams to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and flammability requirements
- Conduct material and process evaluations balancing weight, cost, and quality
- Support prototype builds and user-experience evaluations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft or automotive interiors
- Proven experience leading interior design projects from concept to production
- Strong understanding of ergonomics and human-factors engineering
- Experience with composites, thermoformed plastics, textiles, and foams
- Familiarity with FAA certification requirements (flammability, crashworthiness)
- Proficiency with CAD tools and GD&T
