AI Engineer (Internship)

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement the core AI pipeline for an automated content generation system.
• Design and build LLM-driven pipelines using retrieval and embedding techniques to ground outputs in source material.
• Develop backend services and APIs to integrate AI outputs with instructor review workflows.
• Research and implement new tools and techniques in the evolving AI space.
• Build evaluation steps to monitor output quality and catch failure modes.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with REST APIs and databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Strong foundation in software engineering, including data structures and system design.
• Demonstrated side projects or shipped code (GitHub portfolio required).
• Ability to work independently and iterate quickly in an early-stage environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
• Hands-on experience with RAG systems and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector).
• Familiarity with prompt engineering (few-shot, chain-of-thought) and NLP pipelines.
• Knowledge of LaTeX syntax and math rendering libraries like MathJax or KaTeX.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Vercel.
• Familiarity with AI evaluation frameworks or automated test harnesses.
