AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Dive deep into the latest AI/ML research, particularly in the LLM space, to identify opportunities relevant to Bandwidth's domain.
• Design, build, and test proof-of-concepts and prototypes for novel AI-powered features and services.
• Implement and integrate AI/ML models, including those based on LLMs, into potential future Bandwidth offerings.
• Experiment with advanced AI techniques such as prompting strategies, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic systems.
• Collaborate within a small, cross-functional R&D team to share knowledge and iterate on ideas.
• Present research findings, experiment results, and prototype demonstrations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, ML, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and evaluating AI/ML models and systems.
• Strong programming expertise in Python.
• Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and concepts like RAG and various prompting techniques.
• Familiarity with common ML libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or Hugging Face.
• Ability to work full-time from our headquarters in Raleigh, NC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, AI, ML, or a related field.
• Experience with LLM fine-tuning (e.g., LoRA) or developing custom evaluation benchmarks.
• Familiarity with agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, Autogen) and multi-modal models.
• Experience with MLOps practices and cloud-based ML platforms like AWS SageMaker or Azure ML.
• Contributions to AI/ML research, publications, or open-source projects.
