About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and development of AI infrastructure and services to support research, teaching, and operational needs.
  • Consult with researchers and department heads to assess AI requirements and provide tailored guidance on AI technology integration.
  • Design, deploy, and support AI computing environments across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with the HPC team to manage shared infrastructure, including containers, cloud services, and specialized software.
  • Advise users on secure data management, storage, and movement related to AI workflows.
  • Research and recommend emerging AI service models and tools to improve institutional efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of IT experience involving AI infrastructure, architecture, or similar technologies.
  • Proven experience managing compute and storage resources.
  • Strong networking skills and experience researching technical solutions for customers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse research faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting AI/ML, HPC, or GPU-enabled computing in higher education or enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, containers, APIs, and model deployment workflows.
  • Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure for advanced computing workloads.
  • Knowledge of data security, access controls, and operational considerations for sensitive workloads.
