About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee NYPL After School’s homework help & enrichment service at designated program locations
- Welcome and engage children ages 6-12 in homework help and enrichment activities on a drop-in basis
- Work with students individually and in groups to deliver flexible academic support in math, reading, social studies, and science
- Share program information and expectations with parents/caregivers
- Manage administrative tasks including student attendance, statistics, and supply distribution
- Design and implement engaging enrichment activities for children
- Provide guidance and model best practices for youth employees from the Teen Reading Ambassadors program
- Work alongside the Children’s Librarian and other branch staff to provide assistance for library programs
- Attend periodic meetings and trainings for professional development
Requirements
- Ability to work Monday-Thursday afternoons (approximately 2:00-7:00 PM)
- Ability to arrive at selected locations by 2 PM
- Availability for the 2025-2026 program term (September 2026 to June 2027)
- Availability for orientation workshops between August 31 and September 11
