After-school STEM Mentor

Responsibilities

• Teach "Create New Worlds" classes to groups of 5–12 students (ages 8–14)
• Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons focused on storytelling, game design thinking, and AI literacy
• Facilitate interactive sessions that prioritize collaboration over lecture-based learning
• Manage classroom technology, including laptops, projectors, and web-based tools
• Review provided lesson plans and participate in onboarding and periodic coaching sessions

Requirements

• Available at least 3 days per week between 2pm–6pm
• Experience working with children in a group, classroom, or camp environment
• Must pass standard background checks for working with children
• Reliable transportation (car) to travel to schools and community centers in Boston and surrounding suburbs
• Comfortable using classroom technology and basic web tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in classroom management
• Background in group teaching, camp counseling, or youth mentorship
• Interest in writing, art, game design, robotics, or STEM/STEAM fields
• Existing connections to schools or community organizations
