After School Program Counselor (CAPS)

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in diverse activities including arts and crafts, sports, cooking projects, science, and movement.
• Provide direction, motivation, and supervision to elementary-aged participants to ensure a safe and positive environment.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, participants, and parents or guardians.
• Monitor participant safety and address behavioral concerns as necessary.
• Document and relay accident or incident information to appropriate staff members.
• Assist children with homework and participate in required staff meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Proven leadership experience and the ability to take initiative.
• Effective, enthusiastic, and professional communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a flexible and mature attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and perform tasks such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, and standing.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
