After School Leader

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants by monitoring locations and enforcing safety regulations.
• Plan and implement group activities, including physical activities, nutrition, and academic enrichment.
• Assist children with school-directed virtual learning and provide homework assistance or light tutoring.
• Demonstrate positive interaction with children, treating them with dignity and respect to build self-esteem.
• Maintain professional communication with parents and teachers regarding program information and schedule changes.
• Adhere to all YMCA, licensing, Public Health Department, and school district rules and regulations.
• Manage behavior using positive discipline techniques, focusing on teaching and redirection.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by disinfecting program areas as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completion of 48 semester college units (or a district alternative).
• CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
• Completion of YMCA child abuse prevention training.
• A negative TB test result.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with youth.
• Bilingual skills.
