About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead daily lessons, projects, and weekly challenges for students in grades K-12
- Foster a welcoming classroom community through effective management and social-emotional learning
- Guide and provide feedback to youth workers to support classroom needs
- Provide 1:1 academic and emotional support to scholars as needed
- Ensure student safety during transitions, meals, and field trips
- Maintain accurate attendance, injury reports, and behavioral documentation
- Communicate meaningfully with families during drop-off and pick-up
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years of experience with students under 13 in an after-school setting OR 3 years in a summer camp setting
- Experience working with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic populations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work with all age ranges from K-12
Preferred Qualifications
- 30+ college credits or an Associate's Degree
- Knowledge of Youth Development Principles (SEL, Positive Youth Development)
- Experience in lesson planning or project-based learning
- Experience in tutoring or leading team-building activities
- Fluency in an additional language such as Spanish or French
