Aerial Lineman

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead telecommunications lines and related equipment
• Set utility poles and place anchors for aerial telecommunications systems
• Climb poles and work from bucket trucks to access aerial facilities
• Install and secure cables, hardware, strand, and other aerial components
• Read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, blueprints, and technical diagrams
• Test equipment and verify proper system operation
• Perform routine inspections and identify potential safety hazards or maintenance needs
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively
• Complete required documentation, reports, and project paperwork accurately
• Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry safety standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Aerial Lineman or in overhead electrical line work
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations
• Ability to safely climb poles and work at heights
• Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous manual labor
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Previous telecommunications or utility construction experience
• Experience operating bucket trucks and other aerial equipment
• Pole climbing and fall protection training/certifications
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
