Advising Dean

Responsibilities

• Provide advising to undergraduates and alumni preparing for graduate programs in health professions, law, and business schools
• Serve as a member of the Premedical Advisory Committee, conducting portfolio reviews and writing the Columbia Letter for advisees
• Advise students on all aspects of law and business school applications through individual appointments and group sessions
• Plan and facilitate special programming, including personal statement workshops, interviewing workshops, and guest lectures
• Collaborate with campus offices such as the Center for Career Education and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships
• Maintain preprofessional data within Salesforce and analyze trends to recommend improvements
• Manage the mock interview program for prehealth students, including training new interviewers
• Research and publicize extracurricular, internship, and post-baccalaureate opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience working with college students in advising, counseling, teaching, or supportive academic programs
• Demonstrated knowledge of health professions graduate programs and the law school application process
• Strong interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in using technology, data management tools, and generative AI
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and emotional intelligence

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred
