Advanced Process Control-Application Engineer

Responsibilities

• Maximize benefits from optimization applications by remotely sustaining and improving the performance of existing Model Predictive Control (MPC) or Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications.
• Assess APC improvement opportunities for the fleet and develop/implement new MPC or RTO applications at ExxonMobil facilities globally.
• Partner with site personnel to identify, engineer, and implement MPC or RTO improvements to maximize unit performance.
• Provide technical leadership, expert support, and mentorship to team members to enhance functional skill proficiencies.
• Develop and leverage cutting-edge tools and techniques to improve the delivery effectiveness of advanced process control applications.
• Stay abreast of industry standards and best practices to incorporate into APC applications.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience implementing or supporting APC applications (MPC or RTO) in downstream refining, petrochemical, or upstream industries.
• Proven expertise in Model Predictive Control (MPC) using software such as AspenTech DMC, RMPCT, or PACE.
• Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work shifts (morning/evening).
• Strong technical knowledge of petrochemical assets or oil and gas operations.
• Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills for collaborating with global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Inferential Modeling and RTO.
• Basic knowledge of process data historians.
• Ability to make base control configuration changes in DCS systems.
• Exposure to SEEQ or JMP for data analytics and visualization.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
