Advanced Practitioner – Families First (CIN & Assessment)

Responsibilities

• Provide expert coaching, support, and formal supervision to designated staff or social work students
• Manage high-complexity Child and Family assessments and Section 47 (S47) enquiries
• Model best practice in Child in Need (CIN) planning to ensure analytical and child-centered assessments
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with families and agencies to enable safe step-down of plans
• Contribute to the team duty rota, providing senior-level oversight and decision-making
• Support the authority's goal of raising the status of CIN work through consistent and robust approaches

Requirements

• Social Work England registration
• Recognized Social Work qualification
• Significant post-qualified experience in frontline safeguarding, assessment, and Child in Need work
• Proven experience in supervising, mentoring, or coaching social workers or students
• High-level skills in undertaking S47 enquiries and complex risk assessments
• Ability to provide a 5-year reference history and pass DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions
