Advanced Practice Provider - Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of general and consultative neurosurgery patients across inpatient, outpatient, and OR settings
• Perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, and initiate medical treatments with autonomous decision-making
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe medications within the scope of practice
• Provide surgical first-assist support during neurosurgical procedures
• Coordinate patient care through consultations, referrals, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Deliver patient and family education, discharge planning, and support services
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts, staff education, and clinical research

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner educational program
• NCCPA certification (for PAs)
• Current Illinois licensure or registration
• ACLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an APP or RN in a neurosurgery or related role
• Experience working in an academic medical center or tertiary/quaternary care setting
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in fast-paced environments
• Experience or training in a surgical setting
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic
