Advanced Practice Provider - Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, Cardiac Surgery

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care management for critically ill patients in the cardiac surgery ICU and stepdown units
• Utilize advanced assessment skills to evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex cardiac conditions including valve disease and heart failure
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform therapeutic interventions, and prescribe pharmacological agents
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Monitor patient progress, maintain continuity of care through follow-up, and modify treatment plans as necessary
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning

Requirements

• Advanced degree from an accredited nursing program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Current Registered Nurse license and ability to obtain Illinois APN license (for Nurse Practitioners)
• NCCPA certification and current Illinois licensure/registration (for Physician Assistants)
• ACLS certification
• ICU certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of critical care clinical nursing experience
• Previous experience working in an ICU setting
