Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery

Responsibilities

• Manage general and consultative neurosurgery patients in an inpatient setting
• Exercise autonomous decision-making in assessing, diagnosing, and initiating medical treatments
• Provide comprehensive direct patient care, including family support and discharge planning
• Collaborate with medical and surgical physicians, residents, and nursing teams to direct patient care efforts
• Participate in staff education, consultation, and research activities

Requirements

• For Nurse Practitioners: Master of Science in Nursing and NP certification (ANCC or AANP)
• For Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited PA educational program and NCCPA certification
• Current and/or eligibility for Illinois licensure/registration
• ACLS certification
• Ability to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers (for NPs)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an academic medical center or tertiary/quaternary care setting
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
• Experience or training in a surgical setting
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (Epic preferred)
• Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification (for NPs)
