Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery

Responsibilities

• Manage general and consultative neurosurgery patients in an inpatient setting
• Provide comprehensive direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and initiating medical treatments
• Exercise autonomous decision-making for adult and pediatric patient populations
• Coordinate patient care efforts in collaboration with medical and surgical physicians and multidisciplinary teams
• Manage family support, discharge planning, staff education, and clinical research

Requirements

• For Nurse Practitioners: Master of Science in Nursing and NP certification (ANCC or AANP)
• For Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited PA educational program and NCCPA certification
• Current and/or eligibility for Illinois licensure/registration
• ACLS certification
• Ability to qualify for DEA prescribing numbers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an academic medical center or tertiary/quaternary care setting
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments
• Previous experience or training in a surgical setting
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic
• RNFA certification (for Nurse Practitioners)
