Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant - MICU, Rotating

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care management for patients in the Medical ICU (MICU) within a 24/7 rotational model.
• Manage primary patient care, including admissions, daily management, and coordination of care.
• Perform bedside procedures such as lumbar puncture, PICC placement, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
• Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, and multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cases like respiratory failure, shock, and renal failure.
• Respond to and manage ICU-level oncology critical care consults.
• Ensure continuity of care through structured handoffs during rotating day and night shifts.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in nursing (NP) or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Master's program.
• Current Illinois APN or PA licensure (or eligibility to obtain by start date).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AANC certification (ACNP/ANP-BC) for Nurse Practitioners or AGACNP certification for Physician Assistants.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Eligibility for DEA prescribing numbers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of critical care clinical nursing experience.
• Demonstrated clinical competence in managing patients with critical illness and knowledge of critical care protocol therapy.
