About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage comprehensive direct patient care for the Inpatient Lung/Abdominal Transplant Team
  • Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnose illnesses
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and initiate delegated medical treatments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including medical and surgical physicians, to plan and direct patient care
  • Provide family support, discharge planning, and staff education
  • Perform advanced clinical interventions and certain invasive procedures as required

Requirements

  • For Nurse Practitioners: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and certification by ANCC or AANP
  • For Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited PA educational program and NCCPA certification
  • Current or eligibility for Illinois state licensure/registration
  • Valid DEA prescribing numbers
  • ACLS certification
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts, including every 4th weekend

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of inpatient nursing or physician assistant experience
  • Experience or clinical rotations in Critical Care settings
  • Experience in solid organ transplant or end-stage organ disease management
