Advanced Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Process prescription orders and triage communications between patients, technicians, and pharmacists
• Answer phone calls in a courteous manner and escalate issues to management or pharmacists as required
• Ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution and pharmaceutical care
• Assist in training and mentoring new employees within the department
• Support pharmacy operations, distributive systems, and operational projects
• Implement appropriate downtime procedures and identify opportunities for operational efficiency

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license
• Certified Pharmacy Technician License (National Certification) if licensed in Illinois for more than 2 years
• Ability to accurately type at a minimum of 35 WPM
• Strong mathematical computation skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or other advanced degrees
• Experience in retail, outpatient, mail order, or specialty pharmacy
• Completion of an accredited ACPE/ASHP program or 500 hours of work experience
• Proficiency with hospital operations, pharmacy practices, and healthcare regulatory requirements
