About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design precision assembly and measurement processes for Apple products
  • Perform research and development on new technologies to solve complex assembly and automation challenges
  • Design, implement, and scale automated and semi-automated solutions based on sound engineering principles
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to third-party machine suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Create Request for Quotation/Proposal (RFQ/RFP) documents for automated equipment design and delivery
  • Conduct equipment bring-up, qualification, and acceptance testing at supplier and factory sites
  • Drive failure analysis and machine issue resolution using statistical tools and Six Sigma principles
  • Perform data analysis to communicate machine capability to multi-functional teams

Requirements

  • 10+ years in an engineering role with experience in automation equipment for alignment, assembly, or measurement
  • Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing Operations
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in precision assembly, inspection, and automation equipment
  • Ability to perform tolerance analysis for parts and assemblies
  • Knowledge of machine qualification, design of experiments (DOE), and failure analysis
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, or ProE
  • Understanding of GD&T principles and optics (CCD cameras, 2D/1D lasers)
  • Working knowledge of robotics (6-axis/SCARA), pneumatics, and motion control systems
  • Experience with statistical software like JMP or Minitab
