Advanced Level Distribution Underground Line Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of vault and manhole underground distribution systems, including cables and electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical construction and maintenance on underground cables and equipment, including making complex splice joints on 200 amp cables.
• Install, replace, and repair distribution transformers, potheads, junction boxes, and network protectors.
• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, trenchers, and plows.
• Locate faults and clear trouble on underground cable and signal circuits.
• Develop work tasks, job scopes, and pre-job briefings while instructing lower-class employees.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and labor hours.
• Ensure all work is performed safely in accordance with company and governmental guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Valid Class A CDL.
• 3-4 years of distribution underground maintenance or construction experience (depending on Apprentice level).
• Successful completion of Distribution Underground Line Apprentice 2 training.
• DOT Certification and ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Ability to lift up to 76 pounds and push/pull up to 116 pounds.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, confined spaces (manholes/vaults), and on-call schedules.
• Must reside within 40 minutes of the assigned operations site.
