Advanced Engineer, Additive Process

Responsibilities

• Identify and optimize critical-to-function parameters for mechanical performance and density
• Design and execute experiments (DOE) to map process windows and reduce variation
• Build and maintain parameter sets for new alloys and machine configurations
• Improve AM machine capability through hardware tuning and sensor integration
• Lead machine troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades to improve uptime
• Conduct machine characterization using advanced metrology equipment
• Drive automation and digital manufacturing for performance monitoring

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, materials science, aerospace, or related engineering
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience after graduation
• Direct, hands-on experience with laser powder bed fusion (LPBF)
• Background in fabrication, prototyping, or process development
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel domestically up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with build prep software like ANSYS Additive Suite, 3DXpert, or Dyndrite
• Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (SPC, JMP, Minitab, Python, MATLAB)
• Knowledge of DFAM principles and heat-treat processes
• Familiarity with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks
• Experience with IQ/OQ/MQ qualification approaches
