About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-quality group fitness classes for adults ages 25–75, focusing on strength, functional fitness, and cardiovascular conditioning
  • Design safe, progressive workouts that can be adapted for various fitness levels and abilities
  • Demonstrate exercises and provide coaching on proper form and technique to ensure participant safety
  • Motivate community members to stay engaged and committed to their long-term health goals
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the fitness room and equipment
  • Collaborate with Healthy Harlem staff to support community wellness initiatives and special events

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology preferred)
  • Nationally recognized fitness certification (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ISSA, or ACSM) preferred
  • CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading group fitness or personal training for adults
  • Strong knowledge of strength training, mobility, injury prevention, and exercise modifications
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs of equipment and stand/instruct for 60–90 minutes

Benefits
