Adult Education ESL Instructor

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to adult learners in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science to support literacy and employment readiness
• Assist students in achieving passing scores on the Hi-Set exam
• Instruct students at multiple academic levels using both traditional and online education formats
• Incorporate digital literacy, workforce preparation, study skills, and career readiness into the curriculum
• Prepare lessons and teaching materials aligned with program curriculum to develop essential life and employment skills
• Evaluate student progress regularly using standardized assessment instruments and curriculum-based tests
• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and progress notes
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings to align instruction and build curriculum
• Collaborate with administration and case managers to support student transitions and success

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a closely related field
• Two years of experience working with Adult Education, Basic Skills, or literacy programs
• Knowledge of standardized assessment instruments and effective adult education teaching methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MOS) and database systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to travel to campus and satellite locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education or a closely related field
• Subject area certification (e.g., Mathematics)
• Experience with Canvas, Aztek, or Burlington English
• Bilingual proficiency
