About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to adult learners in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science to support literacy and employment readiness
- Assist students in achieving passing scores on the Hi-Set exam
- Instruct students at multiple academic levels using both traditional and online education formats
- Incorporate digital literacy, workforce preparation, study skills, and career readiness into the curriculum
- Prepare lessons and teaching materials aligned with program curriculum to develop essential life and employment skills
- Evaluate student progress regularly using standardized assessment instruments and curriculum-based tests
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and progress notes
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings to align instruction and build curriculum
- Collaborate with administration and case managers to support student transitions and success
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a closely related field
- Two years of experience working with Adult Education, Basic Skills, or literacy programs
- Knowledge of standardized assessment instruments and effective adult education teaching methods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MOS) and database systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel to campus and satellite locations as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or a closely related field
- Subject area certification (e.g., Mathematics)
- Experience with Canvas, Aztek, or Burlington English
- Bilingual proficiency
