About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) instruction in reading, writing, comprehension, speaking, and Civics to students at multiple literacy levels.
  • Deliver instruction in both traditional classroom and online education formats.
  • Incorporate workforce preparation, digital literacy, study skills, and career readiness into the curriculum.
  • Prepare lessons and utilize teaching materials to develop students' skills for daily living and employment.
  • Evaluate student progress regularly using standardized assessments and curriculum-based tests.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and progress notes.
  • Participate in professional development meetings and collaborate with staff to align instruction and monitor student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a current New Jersey State Teaching License.
  • At least one year of prior teaching experience in secondary, higher education, or adult education.
  • Two years of directly related experience working with Adult Education, Basic Skills, or literacy programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MOS) and database systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet the required schedule: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education or a closely related field.
  • Experience using Canvas, Aztek, or Burlington English.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
