About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders (including dysphagia)
- Deliver evidence-based interventions within community settings such as care homes and service users’ own homes
- Manage a varied caseload independently, prioritising clinical need effectively
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, carers, and family members
- Provide training and guidance to carers and support staff on communication strategies and safe swallowing practices
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility)
- Membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Proven experience working with adults in a community setting
- Dysphagia training and demonstrated competency in managing swallowing disorders
- Strong clinical reasoning skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
