About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive adult cardiac surgical care, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve surgery, and other complex procedures.
- Support the growth of the aortic surgery program through operative management and protocol development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology, critical care, anesthesia, perfusion, and nursing.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers.
- Participate in divisional conferences, case reviews, and morbidity and mortality conferences.
- Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives aligned with STS and institutional benchmarks.
Requirements
- M.D., D.O., or an international medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited or internationally recognized cardiothoracic surgery training program.
- Board certified or board eligible in Thoracic Surgery.
- Clinical experience in CABG and valve surgery.
- Minimum of two years of experience or exposure to heart transplantation sufficient to support recipient surgery.
- Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, an unrestricted California Medical License and a valid DEA registration.
