Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage adults with speech, language and swallowing disorders within an acute hospital setting
• Work across general medical and elderly care wards, with flexibility to support surgical, respiratory and acute stroke teams
• Deliver evidence-based interventions and contribute to discharge planning and onward referrals
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing and therapy colleagues
• Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical documentation in line with NHS and professional standards

Requirements

• Band 6–level experience working with adults in an acute hospital setting or above
• Relevant postgraduate CPD and training aligned with acute adult Speech and Language Therapy practice
• HCPC registration
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills
• Previous NHS experience is desirable
