Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital setting
• Provide specialist intervention for patients with complex dysphagia and acquired communication impairments
• Work across general medical and neurosciences wards as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and patient reviews

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
• Proven experience working with acute adult patients
• Experience managing complex dysphagia and acquired communication disorders
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilated patients
• Competency in Videofluoroscopy and/or FEES
