About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing disorders within an acute setting
- Manage a varied caseload of adult acute patients, including those with complex needs
- Deliver evidence-based interventions and rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual patient goals
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe and effective patient care
- Assess and manage dysphagia, including tracheostomy patients where appropriate
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards
- Support discharge planning and contribute to patient-centred care pathways
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Previous experience working within adult acute Speech and Language Therapy services
- Experience managing adults with communication and swallowing difficulties
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary working skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Tracheostomy competency
