About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing disorders within an acute setting
  • Manage a varied caseload of adult acute patients, including those with complex needs
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions and rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual patient goals
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe and effective patient care
  • Assess and manage dysphagia, including tracheostomy patients where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards
  • Support discharge planning and contribute to patient-centred care pathways

Requirements

  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • Previous experience working within adult acute Speech and Language Therapy services
  • Experience managing adults with communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary working skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tracheostomy competency
