Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties within acute medical wards
• Deliver dysphagia rehabilitation and provide evidence-based recommendations
• Manage an acute caseload independently, prioritising referrals and managing clinical risk
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation
• Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and ward staff regarding swallowing and communication needs

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Eligibility for RCSLT membership
• Dysphagia competency
• Experience in adult acute hospital settings
• Strong clinical judgement and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Videofluoroscopy competency
• Tracheostomy competency
