About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties within acute medical wards
- Deliver dysphagia rehabilitation and provide evidence-based recommendations
- Manage an acute caseload independently, prioritising referrals and managing clinical risk
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation
- Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and ward staff regarding swallowing and communication needs
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Eligibility for RCSLT membership
- Dysphagia competency
- Experience in adult acute hospital settings
- Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Videofluoroscopy competency
- Tracheostomy competency
